What is ELDER LAW?
Aging gives rise to its own set of challenges and specific needs.
We recognize the importance of these needs and have experience advocating for elderly Canadians in a number of aspects in their lives.
Elder Law is about protecting the elderly and dealing with the many legal issues that involve seniors and their families.
Elder Law can include everything from discrimination in the workplace and the healthcare sector, consent and capacity issues, powers of attorney issues and estate planning, to elder abuse and housing issues.
Here are some of the services we offer:
Power of Attorney and guardianship issues
Elder abuse
Separation
Estate planning
Elder law in the workplace
Retirement and Nursing Home Rights and Responsibilities
How can Struthers Law Help You and Your Loved Ones?
It is vital that your interests are safeguarded and protected.
We are here to help not only elderly Canadians, but also their caregivers, guardians and loved ones. Often it is not the elderly individual themselves, but a family member or friend who identifies an issue and contacts us for help on their behalf.
The 2016 census recorded an over-65 population in Canada of almost six million, a total that exceeded the number of Canadians under 14 years of age for the first time. Statistics Canada estimates that, by 2036, the number of seniors could exceed 10 million, accounting for about one quarter of the entire population.
